  • Our most popular package is full-service, concierge-style design - a must for new-builds and total renovations of any space. We design, manage, and facilitate all aspects of our full-service projects from initial design development through installation, presenting you with complete floor plans, elevations, schedules, proposals, samples, visuals and photo-realistic mock-ups along the way. We specify all necessary and/or requested materials, finishes, furnishings, decor, art and small accessories while working with our trusted teams of contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and fabricators to ensure that every element is executed flawlessly, per budget requirements and on schedule. As the client, you’re free to be exactly as involved as you’d like to be while we handle the rest.

 

  • Our photorealistic, conceptual renderings are the perfect visual tool when you have most of your materials and/or furnishings picked out but want to co-explore how it all fits together before pulling the trigger.   • When the project scope calls for less dirt or dust, we offer all-inclusive decorating services for rounding out sparsely appointed rooms or complete sourcing for spaces starting out with a clean canvas. Through styleboards, space planning and renderings, we develop a cohesive concept for all furnishings, decor, and small accessories, including any light construction-oriented aspects like paint, wallpaper, or lighting. Each space is tailored to meet both your aesthetic and functional aspirations while also serving the overall design vision and inherent architecture of the space. We manage the ordering process, schedule, budget and oversee all installations, ensuring that every detail is accounted for and fully realized.

Process

01 / let’s chat

When you’ve decided it’s time to invest in your interior, a quick discovery call is the first step after you fill out our project inquiry questionnaire. We’ll gather more details about you, your home, your design dreams and desires, and briefly walk you through our process. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll either have a meeting on-site or gather more details virtually in order to create a comprehensive design proposal based on your project's specific needs. Shortly after our initial consultation, you’ll receive a detailed estimate and summary which clearly outlines the design goals and establishes the scope of work.

02 / programming

Once you’ve signed on with Black Lacquer Design, we’ll start laying all of the necessary groundwork for the project right away: conducting a site survey to study the property, creating as-built plans, and gathering information from you to take stock of all of your aesthetic preferences and functional requirements. We’re a client-centric firm so we always start by carefully considering and determining your project’s unique components before we dive into any conceptualization.

03 / schematics

We’ll take everything we learned from our programming to start initial space planning, budget analysis, and scope of work refinement (for construction). We’ll work closely with the construction crew to determine the feasibility of the scope, budget, and timeline and make suggestions for modifications if necessary to ensure we’re maximizing your budget and making best use of all parameters. We’ll provide detailed FF&E allowances, which are itemized to show you where and how we recommend spending your available funds. This all acts as our road map for design evolution.

04 / discovery

Often done in tandem with schematics, now is when we dive into the aesthetic conceptualization of your project. We’ll explore reference images with you, general ideas, and initial interior finish recommendations in order to settle on a general design direction before specifying and presenting specific details. It’s when the “pretty” starts.

05 / design development

After establishing a general plan of action, it’s time to narrow down the overall vision into a cohesive, comprehensive design. We’ll continue space planning and developing an ideal layout for everything from interior walls (for full remodels) to accent furniture. Next, we’ll pull together photographs of individual pieces and materials on PDFs (that we refer to as style boards) that reflect the design plan. For most construction spaces, we’ll also be providing 3-D renderings to help you visualize how everything works together (we of course also offer 3-D renderings a la carte). We’ll present these to you along with full furniture plans and detailed tear sheets for each item.

06 / implementation

Throughout your project, we’ll handle all aspects of project management - acquiring all FF&E goods, collaborating with the construction team and tradespeople, providing all details and specifications needed to execute the design; and overseeing all installations to ensure that our high standards are met. After the dust is cleared and packages are delivered comes the best part - installation day! We’ll bring in our team to style and set everything up just the way we imagined it, including all accessories and art.
